My opportunity to serve in the (former) Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth was created in the chaos of 2008/early 2009 as part of a joint laity/clergy volunteer group dedicated to remaining a constituent part of The Episcopal Church. Most recently (late 2021/early 2022 following the conclusion of the litigation) I was asked to participate in a Bishop Mayer-appointed task force to discern “next steps” for the remaining parishes and congregations – an evaluation process that led to the newly created reunification with the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Throughout that period I have served as part of the leadership team for one of the “displaced parishes” (St. Alban’s Arlington) in a variety of roles (Senior Warden; Treasurer; Director of Adult Formation) so my perspectives and interests are grounded in the lived-reality of parishes required to rethink and reimagine how to grow by serving communities in completely different configurations. The opportunity to learn from the larger experience of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas leadership team – and to represent the interests and experiences and potential of the North Region – is an important priority to me.
